Visit of the United Nations Global Hub on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics (UNBDC) and the Zhejiang Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics to CIFAL Shanghai

On April 22, 2025, a delegation from the United Nations Global Hub on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics and the Zhejiang Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics visited CIFAL Shanghai. The visit featured an in-depth exchange of views on organizational development, management systems and operational support.

The United Nations Global Hub on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics, a project body of the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics in Zhejiang, China, offers a collaborative platform. It supports the global community in leveraging new data sources and innovative methods to develop official statistics for measuring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The delegation included Hu Pengfei, Deputy Director of the International Organizations Division of the Office (Department of International Cooperation); Song Shaoying, Party Leadership Group Member of the Zhejiang Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics; Liu Xiaoning, Director of the Regional Centre Management Division of the Global Centre; and Pan Li and Zheng Rongyi from the management division.

Discussions centred on CIFAL Shanghai’s evolution, organizational framework and day-to-day operations. CIFAL Shanghai elaborated on its experiences, achievements in institution-building and innovative management approaches. Both sides also shared practical insights on operational support, covering resource integration, project planning and implementation, offering valuable lessons for each other.
