On April 24, 2025,  a delegation from the Greater Bay Area Education Promotion Foundation (GBAEEF) visited CIFAL Shanghai. The two parties engaged in friendly consultations to deepen pragmatic cooperation, focusing on promoting cooperations and exchanges between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the United Nations organizations. They reached a broad consensus on the timeline and implementation path for future cooperation.

During the discussions, both sides explored the current status of Chinese staff in international organizations. Research indicates that Chinese nationals account for only 1.46% of the United Nations Secretariat and only 3.38% of management positions, significantly lower than those from Western countries such as Europe and America, and not proportional to the contributions China makes in terms of dues. Among Professional (P) level staff, Chinese nationals are mostly engaged in language services, with a lack of representation in key areas.

CIFAL Shanghai and the Greater Bay Area Education Promotion Foundation (GBAEEF) will promote cooperation across multiple fields and at various levels, specifically:

Bringing International Organizations In: By organizing experts and representatives from international organizations to visit the Greater Bay Area, youths will have the  opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the framework, operational mechanisms, scope of work, and talent needs of these organizations. This initiative aims to broaden the international horizons and cross-cultural communication skills of Greater Bay Area youths from multiple perspectives.

Helping Greater Bay Area Universities Go Global: By jointly building platforms with international organizations, Greater Bay Area youths will have the chance to participate in international affairs and become familiar with international rules, thereby maximizing the improvement of their overall quality and global leadership.
