On June 24, 2025, CIFAL Shanghai, CIFAL Newcastle, the University of Newcastle, and East China University of Political Science and Law(ECUPL) jointly organized the "University of Newcastle Ma&Morley Scholarship Program - Shanghai Workshop," which facilitated exchange and innovative cooperation between Chinese and Australian students.

The event kicked off with warm welcome speeches. Professor Wu Qiaofang, Director of International Exchange Center & Dean of International School at East China University of Political Science and Law, Mr. Wu Yugang, Executive Director of CIFAL Shanghai, and Ms. Maryanne Pidcock, Coordinator of the Ma & Morley Scholarship Program at the University of Newcastle, all delivered remarks, emphasizing the importance of this event for the exchange between Chinese and Australian youth and for international cooperation.

During the workshop, Chinese and Australian students jointly watched a video by Conor Ashleigh on the theme of UN sustainable development. They then engaged in group discussions and interactive sessions around important topics such as sustainable development, the integration of ecological protection and economic growth, the lives of indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities, and women's rights. The students actively shared their perspectives, achieving in-depth cross-cultural communication and exchange.

Held at the Changning Campus of ECUPL, the event was a great success. It is hoped that similar activities will continue to be organized in the future to build a long-term platform for exchange and cooperation between young students in China and Australia, and to further promote the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
