Program Purpose
To meet the urgent demand for professional, highly qualified international Chinese language talents in global communication and exchange; to promote the establishment of an internationally aligned training and certification system for Chinese language teachers; to respond to General Secretary Xi Jinping's call to "tell China's stories well and spread China's voice"; to give full play to the role of the Chinese language and culture in advancing China's economic and cultural outreach; and to provide the necessary linguistic foundation and cultural consensus for building a global community of shared future and working together to create a better world.
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) CIFAL Shanghai has established the Management Office for the International Chinese Teacher Training Program, and set up a Program Expert Committee responsible for program design, implementation, promotion, and evaluation.
