On September 11, 2025, Ms. Wu Shanshan, Deputy Director of Tianjin National Ocean Technology Center, visited CIFAL Shanghai with her team. Executive Director Wu Yugang presented CIFAL Shanghai’s achievements in global SDG training and cooperation since 2006. Wu Shanshan outlined the center’s four core business areas and flagship international projects. The two sides agreed to establish long-term collaboration in marine information technology, capacity building and sustainable ocean governance to jointly address global ocean challenges.
The 2025 Belt & Road InfoSec seminar opened in Shanghai on Aug 20. Over 14 days, 32 government officials will study China’s practices in integrating blockchain, big-data, IoT and AI into national cyber-security strategies, fostering future collaboration.

On July 2–3, 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Shanghai (CIFAL Shanghai) successfully held the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Empowerment Seminar for Change-makers at UNITAR Headquarters in Geneva. The two-day seminar welcomed students from Shanghai, offering them insights into the global sustainable development agenda and exposure to international organizations in Geneva.
On July 2, 2025, the "Seminar on Blockchain and Information Security for 'Belt and Road' Countries" was successfully launched in Shanghai. Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and undertaken by CIFAL Shanghai International Training Center, the seminar aims to introduce China's advancements and experiences in blockchain and information security technologies. The 14-day program includes 33 government officials from nine countries.
On June 25, 2025, a delegation of six from Shanghai University of Engineering Science, including Vice Dean Xiao Qian of the College of Higher Vocational Education, visited CIFAL Shanghai to discuss cooperation and development in the field of vocational education. The visit focused on two major cooperation projects: First, the delegation aimed to collaborate on foreign aid training and the export of vocational education standards, planning to develop, establish, and promote vocational education curriculum standards in Southeast Asia, in line with the Belt and Road Initiative. Second, the visit explored the construction of micro-specialties and international certification, such as the International Tour Guide Qualification Certificate training program, to enhance students' competitiveness in the international job market.
On June 24, 2025, the "University of Newcastle Ma&Morley Scholarship Program - Shanghai Workshop" was successfully held, jointly organized by CIFAL Shanghai, CIFAL Newcastle, the University of Newcastle, and East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL). The event facilitated exchange and innovative cooperation between Chinese and Australian students.
On June 17, 2025, the Workshop on Industrial Digitalization Practices among "Belt and Road" Countries was successfully held in Shanghai. Organized by CIFAL Shanghai and SHEC, the event brought together 25 delegates from seven countries. Discussions focused on industrial digitalization, technological collaboration, and market connectivity. The workshop included keynote speeches from industry leaders and a cooperation memorandum signing between CIFAL Shanghai and SHEC, aiming to build an international platform for digital transformation. The event highlighted the importance of digitalization as a driver for economic growth and future cooperation opportunities.
